Welcome to Summer Academy!

Summer Academy will be a place where your child can grow academically and socially! This summer we are excited to offer personalized learning experiences for your child, social-emotional learning time each day, and fun and exciting enrichment and field trip opportunities! This program is open to elementary students. 

On our website, you will find the dates and schedule for summer academy, and some of our community partnerships for the summer academy. 

Ages: We are serving rising 1st through 5th graders

Transportation: Students who register before May 14th can be eligible for free busing.

Potential Field Trips for Summer Academy

As a summer enrichment students in grades 1 and 2 can spend the whole day on a farm: milk goats, pet chickens, play with sheep, hike and play in the woods.
As part of Art Genius Hour enrichment, the South Bend Museum of Art is located in downtown South Bend and offers a wide variety of art mediums created by local artists. It would be a great way to get inspiration for any art project.
As a summer enrichment/Genius Hour activity students can visit the Potawatomi Zoo and take a train ride through it, then eat in the park and visit Kids Kingdom.
As part of Genius hour for gardening, the Blueberry Ranch is located East of South Bend. Students will be able to pick blueberries. They can even eat the berries as they pick!!
As part of Gym and summer enrichment, the South Bend Parks and Venues offers swimming lessons and open swim time all summer. Students could make it a day and play at Kids Kingdom and eat a sack lunch in the park under a pavilion.

Intervention Block for Summer Academy

During the intervention, students will receive small-group instruction based on their academic needs. 

Students will also engage with fun and academic software programs like i-Ready and a few other programs to learn new skills and practice skills from the previous year.
