Mental Health

Social and emotional health is a key component of our strategic plan and we are currently implementing many mental health enhancements within the Empowerment Zone to better serve students. We’ve recently hired a Social Work Coordinator and partnered with Indiana University – South Bend to provide clinical supervision to our social workers and lead efforts in this area.

We offer a full continuum of services to meet the mental wellness needs of all students, including supports for issues like stress, anxiety, suicide prevention, coping with challenges, managing strong emotions, and much more.

Our schools are currently staffed with social workers, who provide mental wellness, social support and academic services to all students, and we are currently in the process of adding social workers in all schools to address complex clinical needs of select students. In fact, we have tripled the numbers of available social workers in the Empowerment Zone.

Also, through our new partnership with Bowen, we are now able to provide enhanced therapy services for students in person or via telehealth. Therapy services require parental consent.
