The South Bend Empowerment Zone is a non-profit organization that serves Navarre Middle (Grades 6-8), and Coquillard, Harrison, Warren, and Wilson Elementary Schools (Grades Pre-Kindergarten – 5) located on South Bend’s West Side. We offer competitive salaries (New teaching hires starting at $41,000) and a comprehensive benefits package (Including, vision, dental, and an on-site clinic) for our employees. We have small class sizes with most teachers having no more than 24 students. We offer instructional coaching support in each school as well as a robust and culturally responsive curriculum.

South Bend has a thriving Hispanic/Latinx population with 15% of its population identifying as Hispanic or Latinx. At the Empowerment Zone, 38% of our students identify as Hispanic or Latinx.
La Case De Amistad is a not-for-profit charitable organization, which functions as a youth and community center on the west side of South Bend. La Casa continues to focus on offering opportunities for Latino youth to help them succeed in today’s society, while fostering cultural pride. Since our founding, La Casa has modified its programming to address changing community needs. As a result, today La Casa not only provides programming for youth; it also offers services for adults, immigrants, seasonal workers and advocacy for local families.
